DESCRIPTION: APW - Hamilton, Grade 4992B with scarce "Bu. Aero U.S. Navy" marked mvt and low serial number, World War II era military "Master Navigation Watch," 22J, 16S, chrome-plated base metal OF original case with contract markings to rear, black metal GCT (Greenwich Civil Time) 24 hour dial, SW-hack-set with sweep-seconds, mono-metallic balance with Elinvar hairspring, fully capped lever escapement, striped pattern nickel damascene, s#4C554. The "Bu. Aero U.S. Navy" marking is scarce among Grade 4992B production and is only found among the very early end of production. We believe the total production of Grade 4992B with this marking is likely somewhere between 1000 and 1500 made.
CONDITION: Mvt: Ticking sluggishly on a full wind after a reluctant start, good hacking function, overhaul recommended, excellent-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, few scattered micro-fine scratches, oxide to loop of regulator spring; excellent dial with mild surface rub near 55 minutes, some perimeter scrape under bezel; excellent hands; case shows hardly any wear, short scratch at right perimeter of rear, some typical fine to micro-fine scratches elsewhere to rear, some small nicks to band, superb contract marking detail, circular brushed finish of rear remains fully intact; tight bow, crown shows hardly any wear; good glass crystal.
ESTIMATE: $500 - $750
